Video discussions

Explore discussions and commentaries on global history, the evolution of philosophy, cultural shifts, global affairs and the whole ideas process in general. Through my channel, neilpittsonyoutube, several playlists show how we can see how present events work, by examining how the world system has evolved out of the framework of periods described in the book Anthropocene NOW! Additionally, I have explored various genres of music in terms of the timescales in which their ideas have evolved, which you can compare with, for example, my video on the evolution of philosophy through the Postmodern age, and other ideas related to changing societies and global events, using material posted on YouTube for entertainment and information purposes.

Youtube playlist: global affairs, history, geopolitics, Anthropocene.

This playlist on neilpittsonyoutube describes the main timeline of global events, like the MCU or Starwars series have a main timeline of films. Created in response to current affairs as they happened at the time it is designed to convey the direct experience of being alive at this particular point in time as opposed to any other. While the book, Anthropocene NOW!, was concerned with describing events in terms of the way they actually occurred at the time, it follows from the way events evolved out of history into the present day situation we are in right now, highlighting the fact that the framework of historical periods allows us to generate our own idea of a shared history we can all understand from our own perspective, and communicate in the moment about what is happening.
