About Neil Pitts
Historian, author, and researcher exploring the evolution of global history and the structural patterns that define how our world truly changes.

Questioning the standard narrative
My fascination with global history began at sixth form college. Together with a cohort of fellow students, I found the conventional explanations of how our modern world operated deeply unsatisfactory. Driven by a desire to understand systemic change, I headed to university determined to construct a model which has directly evolved from historical reality, capable of charting the full trajectory of human society. What I found is there is a comprehensive model used by the educated, businesses and governments which roughly defines the way ideas develop according to changing times, and the key to this is to understand the framework of historical periods and why they are named according to the impact of change upon society.

A complete evolutionary framework
What sets this work apart is its scope. Rather than viewing periods of human, geological and universal history separately from each other, this model describes how they are interconnected. First of all there is the history the planet, which exists on the universal scale, and within that are periods of life on Earth, out of which human history has evolved. Hence, while there are so many directions and debates over the future of every part of humanity, we can see the new Anthropocene age (age of humans) accurately and objectively in terms of how civilisations emerge, transform, and adapt within the context of evolution itself.

My present and beyond
My major 130,000-word volume was originally developed with literary agent David Hornsby, who arranged its publication by Dynasty Press as Postmodernity & the Creation of the Anthropocene in 2021, using money from Lady C's book, Harry and Megan.
While it was designed as an authoritative guide to the framework of official historical periods, and featured the Ancient world's great myths, religions, philosophers, dynasties and empires, it was itself developed from an original idea of mine called Origins of the New World Order, which was a prototype self-published book on how later periods buried the civilisations of the Ancient world, hence creating a need to explore how and why new world orders occur.
However, as we added the Middle Ages and Modern periods, it was only then I came to fully understand the reasoning behind the Postmodern age and implications of the Anthropocene in terms of the way the world actually evolves. Since David retired we parted ways and I been able to make changes which were not previously possible under the new title Anthropocene NOW! So, it is the same work but has been adapted to shift the emphasis from intellectually understanding the past in a passive sense, into perceiving the new living present which is revealed as this new age is creating an unprecedented living space for humankind. Hence it is now directed, along with the YouTube channel, towards bringing the type of understanding and sustainable change the world needs.
"History is not merely a catalogue of past events, but necessary for seeing the 4-dimensional nature of civilisational progress as the world has entered a state of continual paradigm shift through globalisation, so events cannot be understood from a singular, subjective perspective, only from the overview. But we can all regard this overview as our shared history."
